Hi, wickedwings,

How are your little Barnie chicks? Any new photos of them?

Thank you, kindly
Petite Poulet

Hello, Mr. wickedwings,

You mean to say that the little chick vanished [smilie=a_wizard.gif] into thin air? Or did some mean beastie get the poor baby?

That is so :(

gluck.gif with the triplets!

I have no idea, it was there one day and not the next evening when I chcked. It's possible it squeezed out through a hole in the pen or through the larger gauge mesh in the adjoining section. It's possible the other silkie ate it. It's possible the mice ate it. I dunno! I have segregated the 2 families which will eliminate potential cannibalism and prevent access to the large gauge mesh for the smallest chicks. I haven't got on top of the mouse problem yet.

Maybe you will find the little missing Barnie chick, maybe it thinks that the other Silkie is it's mother and is living under her wing???

I hate mice, rats and foxes! It seems to be a BAD year for them to harassing the lives of poor innocent chookies!!!

My uncle uses an old honey bucket with a small hole cut on top of the lid filled with bait, but he doesn't have chooks so I don't how how safe it is for chookies who like to eat mice. Do you have a cat?

I don't think it's coming back, I've checked under the other silkie and it aint there.

Yes we've got the fattest, laziest ginger moggy you've ever seen, I don't think he'd know what to do with a mouse if he found one.

Gorgeous!

We have caged birds, so no cat, maybe a dog one day...Maybe more chooks, if the Chook Police aren't watching...

His name is Scrumpy, it's kind of a cross between surly and grumpy because he just has that look about him when his eyes are actually open. He's a bit like your kids really, looks angelic when he's asleep.
