Thank you very much apf admin. I really appreciate the sticky with the links. :) :)

I have already printed all the info from the marsh sellers tripod site as it was really good and I keep that in my chookie folder. Same as the pekinbantams.com site. Again very useful and have printed hard copy.

I can't get into the utilitypoultry.co.uk site though. It comes up can't find page. Is it just me??

And had a look at the other site and still finding my way around there.

Again thank you :-D

Hi there - I have crossed a lavender pekin rooster with a millefleur Belgian d'Uccle hen and now have 9 very cute, but very black, chicks. :)

I assume this is because both millefleur and lavender are recessive, and require the colour gene from both parents to be expressed?

In the absence of a double dose of either colour, it seems that the black gene kicks in. Is this right?

I am guessing that if I then breed two of these black recessive chicks together that I might get a percentage of millefleur, lavender or porcelain.

Can you let me know if I am on the right track or completely befuddled! ;)

Thanks!

Deb :-D

HI Deb,

Do you know the parentage of your millefleur? As oyur lavender cocker should be "ll" in genes - l = recessive and he should be carrying l + l that is why he is lavender. Do you know what your Millefleur is. If the Millefleur gene is recessive as well? Which gene is more dominant out of the recessive genes the lavender or the millefleur?

These are the sorts of things I to would like to know.

As in Cuckoo. Cuckoo is dominant and black is dominant but which is more dominant the cuckoo or the black????

Hi CL, I assume millefleur is recessive as with only one millefleur parent I have no millefleur chicks.

Following this logic, the parents of my millefleur hen would have both been millefleur (or at least split for millefleur). I will be able to check with the breeder when she gets back from showing this weekend.

Any more than that I don't know!!! :-? :)
