An interesting site on the Lemon (orps) but the genes are the same http://www.keiths-orps.co.uk/categories ... uckoo.html Interesting the single and double factor Barring gene. So ideally its the single gene you want for the pekin or they will be to dark and back to buff in pheno

Is there a lot of difference between the buff cuckoo and the lemon in the genetics like are they the same gene just a different shade?

No they are not the same gene in the Pekin bantam. I think they are the same in the Orpington though.

I have finally listed some of my Lemon Cuckoos for sale. Now is the time to say how they have been made I guess as I have had many people ask me how to make then
When I first started I did use the palest buff Pekin hens and blue cuckoo rooster.
Then I crossed the best chicks brother, sister mating together from them.
Then those chicks produced back to the parents, those chicks when grown I then put my salmon Wheaton in to the mix by crossing the lightest best lemon marked boy over the salmon Wheaton hen and continued to cross using the Wheaton in the mix several times. The chicks from these I then bought in a new line and breed at the end of 2010 carrying citron and added to the mix.Citron I was told is lemon yellow colour.I just kept on picking the best out of the birds and using them. This was all started in 2006 and these birds are breeding true to colour now.
