Hi
My friend told me the pros and cons
Here they are
Pros
Friendly
Adaptable
Good in the cold or heat
Good layers
Cons
They don't like being confined
Some are aggressive to new birds
Flighty
There you have it. This account is based on what other people have said. Myself I have never seen them before.
Thanks
Chooklover101

wave.gif Rhonda FNQ and welcome to the forum ^ I see this is your first post - and a good one too :-D [smilie=a_goodjobson.gif]

A large aviary style pen is supposed to be good housing for them – similar to what Yokohamas should have = large with a lot of room to move around and to go high and low perch wise with medium height nesting boxes and feeders and waterers off the ground a bit – some have 2 or 3 feeders and waterers at different levels to accommodate the individual birds preferences

Some safe shrubs etc in the aviary would help so they have areas to ‘play’, multiple perches different sizes and heights

Oh - and an easy to clean container for green feed and a bit of fruit every now and then as a treat - seperate to their normal feed

Love the shrubs idea not enough of that in large coop these days and it can be done very well

Yes my friend bought some new birds into the flock and it took the Sumatra a while to stop picking on them

The same applies to ALL game fowl its their nature to be aggressive, just don't turn your back on them in the coop
