All you can do is to keep giving her your love and support. She is greiving for the loss of her friend, healing takes time.

You can maybe try offering her some treats? Something she really likes. Give her lots of cuddles, talk to her, make her feel loved, as I know you do PP. This way, she will know you are there for her to help support her through this difficult time.

I am sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you, your family and Lady Frances. Hopefully with time Lady Frances will be able to find happiness again and new friendsips in your new babies.

Lady Frances is still making the saddest of clucking noises first thing every morning, it's sounds like she is crying in a clucking sort of way, maybe she is waking up all alone and not finding her bestest friend there :( She used to sleep on top of Lola to keep her warm.

Lady Frances is also spending an awful lot of time in the nesting box and sitting on a couple of plastic eggs.

Is she going broody? How would I tell if she is serious about sitting, as Lola used to get her out of the nesting box.

If so where is the best place to procure some fertile eggs for her? Would the eggs need to be brown, ie like a Barnevelder, Marans eggs are too eggspensive.

Would her condition need to be more improved? She is eating and drinking well.

Thank you, kindly 52.gif

Hello PP,

Finally some lovely news about Lady Frances and her cluckiness. How long is she sitting for thriughout the day? I would buy some eggs from Abundant Layers. At least you will be assured of a good quality. Lady Frances doesn't mind what colour the eggs are. If she's clucky she will shuffle the eggs under, no questions asked [smilie=a_rolling.gif] . Let me know if you would like some assistance.

Thank you, kindly 52.gif Chickababe for your offer of assistance, you are very kind and helpful.

Lady Frances sits in the nest boxes most of the day but jumps off as soon as the back door is opened to see if anyone has a treat or a hug for her.

She is still making those sad clucky noises every morning, it is ever so heartbreaking to hear

Hello PP,
I haven't been to the forum for quite a while and have just found out that you lost The Pretty One last month. That would have been awful for you. She was very much part of your life and you spoke about her and Lady Frances all the time, so her life and chickens were part of our lives too. Have you found a new friend yet? I can't see a recent post from you, but I may be looking in the wrong place.
