Good morning chook lovers. I would like to know a little about the shamo chicken with regard to egg laying , mum skills, eating, social kills with young humans?

I have the large brown commercial but have seen a large number of these shamo chickens show fowls at the pet store and did like their looks

Any advice would be beaut

Thanks in advance

J

The best and pure shamo's in oz are in Qld I can't name the 3 breeders that have them but they are pure and not reproductions like some rubbishy fowls I have seen.

They are super easy to keep no harder than any breed but can be aggressive and are fighters so watch out. I would say not for children under 16.

Good eating fowls with good breast meat

Some of the best Shamo in the world are right here in Aust you just have to know the right people. Be warned they are highly aggressive and will fight by nature and kill other fowl including waterfowl so not for the faint hearted

Would it be good to cross breed them with another chook to get a nice calm fowl?

Any of the game fowls are naturally aggressive and savage they will fight most other fowls and even attack hens so beware

Thank you all for your honesty I think they are not for my family being they are so horrible and nasty not to mention I was not so keen on such pure bred fowls that are so highly strung. The shop still has about 15 left but I will pass them up. Any other breed you would suggest other than those aggressive fighting malay fowls

Though not abundant egg layers, Silkies are great mums and have great social skills with young humans or perhaps a Pekin bantam if you have young humans?
