Yes they will cross breed but why pollute good orpingtons? try to find an orp roo and eat the sussex for dinner

I agree, should get a Orpington Roo ;)

Naughty me was impatient and wanted to test an incubator, so breed a couple Buff Orpington x Sussex pullets this year and so far they are great:)

This one came out all white :P

I decided not to get the rooster right now as I want to get rid of the sussex and get a nice looking chook breed so now thinking I may just get all orpingtons as they are holding the rooster for me. Is it ok to mix say the back and brown orpingtons?

Thanks for the help it so nice

A lot of people go through the same dilemma with their chooks. I've just done the same and only have a couple mixed breeds for eggs production but now its mostly pure breeds. As far as which pure breeds you should pair up will be based on what you want to achieve, such as improving their form or colour.

Its good to see you sticking it out and being patient and waiting for the right chickens, I know how hard that can be ;)
