Really! never heard of any fowls dieing from hot weather unless they dehydrate because they have no water? or that were very sick to start with? must be one of those because good clean coops with water, food and shade with nice clean healthy chickens don't die from hot days. th_Noooo.gif it doesn't happen to good honest breeders and healthy chickens.

I have a mate in Northam WA that rang me last night and it was 42 at his place yesterday and 42-43 by the weekend again so its warm all over the country. He's the top breeder of Silkies over there and he was saying he's never lost a fowl in summer in 36 years of breeding and the highest temp hes had is 52 in the shade  and apart from some slight panting all 280 silkies and 3 dozen or so ancona were perfectly happy. Its all about preparation and having basic knowledge of animal husbandry and a touch of common sense.

I live in toodyay and its hot here every year in summer [41 yesterday] but we know this and make sure all our animals are cared for properly and like your friend in northam Bill we have never had a bird and animal die from heat and if someone does its their fault for not taking care of the birds and they should be ashamed of themselves.

Is toodyay and northam very close? I should look it up :-? as you say if anyone has birds die in heat then its 100% their poor husbandry and lack of brain cells not the weather that just a bullsh-- excuse.

Yep its the cold days and more so mornings that are of concern not hot days. I think people that let their chooks die on hot days should be locked in the coop with no water or shade and see how it feels
