Hi all
I have had a chook now for about 8 yrs and until a couple of months ago she used to sleep on top of my cocky cage in a cat box.
She decided to go stay with the chooks in the main run and seemed happy enough until few days ago.
She (chooka) was a bantam and all of a sudden she just disappeared in broad daylight. It was really weird as she was there in the morning when I let her out. But not there to put to bed. I thought she might have hidden and gone broody, but no sign of her at all.
Chooka liked to keep to herself a lot and tolerated other girls because they were just there.
We don't have goannas of any size but we do have birds of the air.
I haven't seen any foxes during the day.
Not happy as she was a pet. Sorely missed. :(

Really sorry :( to read of Chooka's disappearance, perhaps a bird of prey has taken her if she was a loner.

Oh that's very sad Duckie. My best wishes and keep everything crossed that she may return.

duckie could there be a chance that Chooka could have made up her mind to find a place to go broody and then show herself in three weeks time

I came across a clip on you tube one when a slikie did just that.

I am hoping that she has done just that.
Around the coup there is not any such cover.
I am hoping that she has jumped or gone through the fence (dog fence)
One can only hope so.

It's hard to say, but I don't hold much hope.
It's a week now and no sign of her. Such a mystery the way she just went poof into thin air.
I don't normally see foxes here in the day time. It would have to be a bird.
I had her for almost 8yrs. She..as I said...slept on top of the cocky cage in a cat carrier all this time.
Then she decided to visit the chooks in the run and was there for a few weeks.
I even took her cat box over which she continued to sleep in.
If I brought her back over here she would still be around. Not happy. :(
