Animals find temporary shelter in Melbourne backyard as Edgar's Mission farm faces bushfires

Animals from a not-for-profit animal sanctuary north of Melbourne are enjoying a suburban holiday as the farm's owners battle to keep the property safe from the Victorian bushfires.

Wow, guys.

Not one comment about what an amazing and selfless job Pam and Co are doing up there in Willomaven.

I would have thought that people here would be more supportive of the folk at Edgar's Mission. They are facing fires and food shortages and they are saving animals. I got my four ex-battery hens from there after the second mass rescue. I'm glad I did. What started out as emaciated, threadbare little things are now thriving, healthy chickens.

A little kudos and compassion is what's called for here, not gripes about hygiene or how dirty the room is.

Really!?

I would have thought that this forum especially would understand that some people do what it takes to save their birds - no matter what their origins.

Again, I say...wow.

Amanda

"You cannot judge a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes"

When facing the threat bushfire and staying to defend we do all sorts of things to preserve life.

Hats of the the people in Ashwood taking in those animals, and to their neighbours for not dobbing them in to their council. Can't imagine my neighbours and we live up bush tolerating "30 roosters, pigs, sheep, chickens and rabbits" let alone those in suburban Melbourne.

I think we have to learn to help in times of adversity and not condemn and criticise.
