Post subject:  Looking for Cream Legbars

I am looking for show quality cream legbars that conform to the breed standard and lay consistently blue eggs. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks very much.

don't think you will have much luck here, as this is Australian site.

Yes, I understand it's an Australian site. If you know of anyone in Australia with nice cream legbar stock, I'd be interested in hearing about it.

i have read (not sure how true it is) that we do not have the right gene in oz to make that colour.

Aren't Legbars a sex linked crossbred? Can you have a show quality crossbred? Would they be judged in a show?

I believe that they're an autosexing breed, not a sex-linked cross breed. An autosexing bird breeds true generation to generation.

Yes cream legbars are one of the few autosexing breeds they were created by a three way cross of Brown Leghorns, Barred Rock & Araucana

Thanks. For what it's worth I've seen references on the web to Australian breeders who have cream legbar and golden legbar. But, I have been unsuccessful so far in being able to contact a cream legbar breeder.

Cream Legbars need the Cream (Inhibitor of Gold ) gene. The presence of this gene has not been established to exist in Australia.
