Please bare in mind, I'm new to purebred chooks...
I bought 3 cochins to put in the bottom of my bird cages..friend had 10 roosters from 12 eggs..my ringnecks kept biting the legs off my quails so I thought I would fix 'em with some chooks.
I now have moved the roosters into a really good sleeping coop and they free range though the day.
Now I know nothing about cochins chooks,. and my question is, are they big chooks or bantams??

Hi Sues, There are Standard & Bantam Cochins so they could be either, how old are they? Do you have any photo's you could put in the Gallery? Would help to identify them. Did they stop the ringnecks from biting? Rainbow Lorries can be the same.

Thanks

Hi Kai, Cochins have a different body shape, with a more up-right appearance and longer legs than Pekins.

Thanks

will take some pics.. they are bigger than my japanese bantams but would not be as big as a RIR. REALLY pretty colours..
Yes, they did stop the ringnecks biting..but now the mice have come back into the aviary (there were none when I had the roosters in with them). So with summer coming, guess the snakes will be back!
