Hi all, How is everones start to the 2005 breeding season? we've had a great start with our Pekin Bantams, and have well over 100+ chicks and a long way to go! Silkies are also going great guns, and are sitting on anything and everything!!!

Would be great to hear how everyone else is going?

Thanks

Hi PA,
Have set just over 400 chook eggs so far--- whilst I was away fishing the incubater bulb blew during the night ,wife fixed it in the morning but not sure how long it had been off, however it did effect three trays as my average was way down for them, but including them I'm not doing to bad with the following results:-

F2 Speckles == 72% Hatched. :) :) :)
Australorps == 58% " :( :( :(
R.Isl. Reds == 48% " :cry: :cry: :cry:

The next batch hopefully will bring the average back up a bit.

Regards,

Snowball :D :D :D

I have so far hatched 50 Rhode Island Reds and 10 Plymouth Rocks which have all sold. I hatched 3 out of 4 turkeys and 6 out of 6 turkeys in the second batch.

Hi Snowball, 400 eggs is quite a few! your going to be very buzy in the next few weeks? we had a power outage a coulpe of months ago it was out for 7.5 hours but this did not affect the eggs. if the power goes out we don't open the incubator even when the window fogs up and we still get a great result.

P.s Sounds like your season has started well Mrpeabody also sounds like Rhodies & Rockies are in demand over your neck of the woods? are turkeys popular in the west?

Thanks

I am not too sure about the turkeys yet I will advertise them next week for the first time. I hope I can find homes or we may have to start eating turkey, lol.

Hi all, We sent the last group of Pekins (chicks) off on the weekend (2005 bred) which totaled 146, this brings us up to date with most orders (excluding Columbian, Lavender, Motts) & are now accepting order for 2006.

Hope everyone is having a great season?

Thanks
