If they have been fed starter then grower crumbles as chicks and young birds they should have developed a resistance to Cocci as both starter and grower have medicant in them to help develop that resistance

starter to about 8-9 weeks then grower to the first egg is what I recommend

Is Baycox only available from a vet or can I buy it from a pet shop?

Vets will have it or can get it in for you. Some produce stores may also have it. It is not a prescription medication as far as I am aware.

Hi all,
I bought a bottle of Baycox from my produce store on Friday afternoon and it was $240.00.They did a special order for me to get it.
parvo,
Am I correct in saying all chooks carry coccidiosis at all times but it is a stress factor that triggers it off. Say cold, rain, noise, over crowding or other contributing factors.
It is always in the ceca (chickens gut)and small intestines.

3mls per 1 litre water.

Baycox for Poultry

Coccidiocide Solution

Dosage directions

It is administered on 2 consecutive days with an 8 hour treatment period on both days.

Ensure full lighting conditions during treatment.

Do not withhold feed during treatment.

Add the required amount of Baycox to the amount of water consumed in an 8 hour period and stir thoroughly. Allow for varying water consumption during hot weather.

Treat birds for 8 hours each day for 2 days (2 x 8 hour treatments).

No other source of drinking water should be available to birds during the 8 hour period.

Baycox for Poultry

Coccidiocide Solution

Directions for use

Baycox use in a treatment program.
To use Baycox in a clinical outbreak obtain an accurate diagnosis. Begin treatment with Baycox as soon as coccidiosis is confirmed. A treatment period of two days is sufficient. If required, treatment may be repeated after 5 days.

Baycox use in a preventative program.
To use Baycox as a coccidiosis preventative in broiler production, give Baycox on days 9 & 10, 16 & 17 and 23 & 24 of life. Do not use a coccidiostat in the feed. An additional treatment may be necessary after 35 days of age but not within 14 days of slaughter.

General Instructions
DO NOT USE GALVANISED OR RUSTY IRON WATER TANKS AND RETICULATION SYSTEMS.
Baycox mixes with all types of water. However in areas where the drinking water is acidic, the water should be tested with pH test strips and brought to a minimum pH of 8.5 using sodium carbonate (washing soda).
To avoid excessive foaming, add Baycox to the water after filling the supply tank.
