I use pest oil.....pyrethrum based..smothers and smoothes out the legs beautifully...seems very mild and effective...works a treat.

Yes I was asking about the Yates Pest Oil that you use on your chickens

Yes..i did use this on my last chicken as the infection was so drastic but prior to this I used vegetable oil...white oil will do it too.....vaseline was too messy...

The nasty ingredient in Pest oil I guess is petrolium as it works after a day or two I dont think it does any harm....

I think a short use maybe ok as it look mostly all natural

I take it the oil is not absorbed into the skin far enough to enter the blood stream?

Tell you the truth Scox...i really was concerned as well before I did it but the old treatment from "back in the day" was pure petrol and other fuels..yuk..so this was a very effective method with the pest oil...immediate relief..you could hear the poor girl clucking with joy at having the nasty buggers stop biting....

I continue with plain vege oil after two days of pest oil just to keep smothering the eggs of any bugs left....i had an old bantam live to nine years after using the pest oil and she was a trooper x x great girl [smilie=a_withstupid.gif]
