I have found this info and would like to know your thoughts on following the recommondtions within it

Should they always be blown dried or on a warm day can they sit out in the warmth

Lionel,

You need to be fairly careful with blowdrying, the feather can dry out fairly quickly. The result the feathers don't sit back in place well or they can have a curly appearence. Normally after washing it takes a bird about to days to get everything back in place and all feather back to normal and nicely covered in natural oils from their oil gland.

I try to sun dry the birds, by teathering them out in the yard on the grass, other use wire cages. To do this you need a good warm sunny day, and ensure the bird get plenty of cool water as required.

I recommend the all those new to the practice of washing, have few test runs with some of your older birds or culls, to get a routine. Try some of the different washes advised in the varoius articles, you will fine one you like best this way. This will enable you to know how long it takes for the birds to return to normal. The last thing you want to do is damage [smilie=a_doh.gif]

your best birds (pride and joy), before a show for the want of a practice run.

Dry them off with a towel then let them dry el~natural {just as long as its warm}
