16 = been there done that 3 times with my kids = all are 'open' exhibitors now

BUT if the Club doesn’t allow the junior exhibitors to go up for the major prizes [Best in Show/Res Best in Show] any junior wanting to have their birds potentially qualify = if their birds got Champion in their section = they would have to put their birds in the open section

So read the individual Club's Schedule to find out their rules/guidelines/terms and conditions

Hope this wasn’t too confusing!!!! Only had one cup of coffee so far today!

BYCA,

I started showing at the ripe old age of 12. I only showed as a junior several times, as many clubs did not have a junior section.

Unfortunately or fortunately, I did not have a parent who had birds, so I was never questioned about the ownership, who bred the birds, or prepared them for the show. These are the general questions or points that get raised about some of those in the junior section.

I found it far more benefitial to show with the "adults/seniors", than the junior section. It is also soooo much better when you manage to get a first or champion in the open section. You tend to get more feedback and help from the other exhibitors. In some clubs the junior sections tend to be a bit isolated from the open classes.

Yes the best way around this as mentioned is to show in open section then you get the best idea of how good your birds are with the shelter of junior section

are they saying you CANT exhibit in 'open' [senior] if you want to??
if so, in my opinion, that is wrong as it is discrimination

what do the rules of the Club say??
