Hi Ben,
[smilie=welcome.gif]
I don't know if regular judges courses are held in Sydney, if they d o it is a new innovation.
Depending on what area you live you have a number of local Poultry Clubs that will be more than willing to assist you.
I know one club I was associated with at monthly meetings held lectures and bird nights dealing with breeds and subjects of interest to it's members.
Sometimes a guest speaker would talk on a particular breed or they would invite members to bring along fowls and informally judge them or discuss fowls benched before the members.
With a keen member they would ask you to judge them and if you showed promise invite you to judge maybe a Junior Section, a particular breed or section at thier next show.
As a general rule judges are older experienced breeders invited by a club to officiate on a breed or breeds they are competant with.
The governing body of Poultry Clobs in NSW (AFCAC) maintains a Judges Register of people competant and experienced, once you have gained the experience you apply with proof of that experience to be added to that Judges Register which is circulated to all clubs in the state.
You do not have to be a registered judge to oficiate, you just have to have the invitation from a club.
So I guess your first port of call is your local All Breeds or Specialist Poultry Club.
Good Luck, I judged my first show as a 16 yo in 1967, you are never too young to start.

Just to clarify the situation.
I have given a false lead in an earlier post.
I'm glad I posted elsewhere earlier today we are never to old to learn.
I have Breedorp to thank for pointing out my error, [smilie=thanks.gif] Breedorp.
It appears that AFCAC is no more and has not been in existence for some time, it has been replaced with the Exhibition Poultry Assoc, just shows how long since I was available to take an active part in things, never lost my passion though for having the fowls around and trying to constantly improve the fowls and myself.
Sorry if I sent you on a fruitless wild goose chase re Judges training courses in Sydney.
