I still use one on the girls and its about 10 years old and works perfect

I too use one on my silkies I think you have to dry the quickly so they don't get a chill

Ive tried so many things in the past!

I generally only wash white/light coloured fowls at the start of the season, and try to keep them housed in a clean environment. I also use Blu-o in the rinsing water, it seems to help them come out looking extra clean.

Lux laundry soap has been one of my favourites, and well as various brands of baby shampoo and conditioner 2 in 1. I found that the 2 in 1 baby shampoo and conditioner seems to be less harsh on removing natural oils on the feathers, but does a pretty good job at getting rid of the grime.

Ugh, drying! I really try and get my fowl bathing done on a warm sunny day, but in the event that this is not possible, I have my garden shed set up pretty well. Normally, birds would be washed, towled dry as much as possible without inflicting feather damage, and sat in the sun while i bath the next fowl. They would then be moved to my garden shed, where I have a large heat lamp and osculating fan heater (only a small one, just to keep the air circulating) where they would stay in show pens for the next 24 hours.

I have been using the johnson baby shampoo for years now on the silkys and its very good at cleaning them up and gentle on the skin and feathers
