what breeds are you wanting to show?
if you want to show you will needs lots of pens and a brooder for the chicks, a grower pen, a breeding pen, some holding pens and training pens,

regards youri.

Hi Ash,

Your mum was probably told that you need to have a seperate pen for the ones you want to show so that they don't get dirty or damaged feathers when you are coming close to the show date as this will take points off from the judges. It is good to have a smaller pen with clean bedding (sawdust) in it for the ones you want to show and to keep them by themselves, it doesn't mean you can't put chooks or ducks beside eachother but you wouldn't want them fighting or trampling eachother. You also need to train them to be picked up and have their wings and feathers examined as the judge would do.

not yet but i'm going to build some soon so will get step by step photos.

it would be a good idea to become a member of your local poultry club, they then you can get in contact with a breeder and maybe visit there place and having a look at there setup.

regards youri.

also if you want to show chooks a incubator would help.
croad langshans would not be the best birds for beginner shower, as they are very big, if i was you i would consider bantam sussex and bantam australian langshans, asutralian langshans look a lot like croads.

what colour of sussex do you want to breed? and what colour of langshans?

regards

youri. :)
