PA,
As a member of the Ipswich and District Poultry Club I would like to thank you for posting these wonderful photos of the event. If you get a chance next year you should have a look at the crazy cent raffle they have upstairs in the caged bird pavilion. It usually happens just prior to the poultry presentations. A mate of mine takes his mother every year and they win heaps of stuff. They just about need armaguard to get out of there. The last two years running they have each won a budgie in a cage (one of the more special wins). It is deadset like bingo on steroids.
If I remember I'll get some photos next year. It is hard for me to leave the poultry section but I might get to sneak away for long enough. I am aiming to convince more club members to add to the raffle next year so it will be even crazier.
The Ipswich club is really getting its second wind so look out next year.

Chees, Tiger.

The photos kindly displayed by PA are of the club show, the 2009 Feather Spectacular (also know as the festival of feathers) and they have a rare breeds section as well as the one I sponsor in the Ipswich ag Show. While I would like to see you at both, the Ipswich ag show is a three day event making it worthwhile but tough for anyone that travels from a distance. The Feather Spectacular is a one day event and includes a poultry and caged bird show, a private treaty bird sale and a number stalls for commercial retailers, it also includes the crazy cent raffle I mentioned above. Both shows are huge events and I think the poultry section of the Ipswich ag Show was the best display at the show this year and many people agreed with me.

Tiger.

The 2008 Festival of Feathers (upstairs and downstairs) is the one I went to. I took two of my kids along and we arrived at about 1pm.

I was simply amazed by just how many breeds and colours and varieties there are in the caged birds.

A funny thought just came to mind...chooks with some of those colours. :-D :-D :-D

See viewtopic.php?f=21&t=2903 for the topic I started last year about the 2008 event.

Sorry Greenaus, I thought Ian may have been confused because we were chatting about the rare breeds at Ipswich Show on another thread.

I am sure you're not.

Gatton Feather Club show is on Sunday. I seem to have luck at Gatton so I am going back.

Thanks for that. Can you post further info in a new thread in the Shows, etc, etc section? Thanks.

We're busy much of Sunday and probably going to visit my mother-in-law in hospital in the afternoon, but I might be able to find a minute or two to go to Gatton.
