It' sounds like a lot when you say it but when you put it into perspective it's actually a fair price , an old breeder I know commented to me recently , that it costs him about $100 to get a bird to maturity , with the current price of grain , and that probably doesn't even include the price of worming , building pens , incubating , and other expensive medications .
The old mate that made the comment has been breeding and showing all of his life , and now all of his sons are either showing or breeding ,so he really knows his stuff , when you take all of those costs into consideration . The prices of $225 a pair or $250 a pair are actually quite reasonable .
I won't even start on how much it costs to fill your petrol or diesel tank ,when you set off to buy your Chookfeed

I here what your saying Ian, i guess its just a lot of money in terms of other things, and yes i know how much diesel costs these day believe me we own a turbo diesel  its even worse when you work for caltex like i do :-?

For people like your self that are into breeding and showing then i guess its a fair price 4 for the quality of birds you want or need... ;)
