The current standard should have stayed in print until the new one comes out like most do thinkerg.gif

I think the APS should have website where you can download the breeds that you want and charge a small fee for it. Not everyone will want the whole book. If they had this option they I feel they would make a lot more money. If someone only wants one breed standard right now others will scan it and email it to them, if they had the option i suggested then that is money in their pocket and people wont run the risk of breaching copyright laws.

I think that is a BRILLIANT idea. I agree they would probably make far more money than selling the individula books for a much higher amount. I would be very surprised if it ever happened though...

Problem there Daniel = a number of breeds require you to own the book as you have to ‘refer’ to this or that AND the other breed to get all the info you need just for your one = the reference is made = as per blah blah blah breeds colour etc
I am hoping that all necessary info is included with each breed in the revised version to save having to jump back and forwards like you do with the current one

Yes I picked up on this too soozorps the current edition not all the required conformity is under the breed you are looking for so I am with you and let’s hope the second edition rectifies this or I won't bother buying it. I also think the idea from Daniel has merit if and I stress if they show conformity for a breed in that breed section then yes they should offer the section you want via a web site for a fee. Perhaps it’s time to think outside the box

The other source of the "standard" if you are only wanting one ot two breeds, is the State or National club of that specific breed. These clubs will generally have articles or have a copy available for viewing to its members.

Having the complete standard is always good, you never know when you see a rare breed at a show or you just want to understand other breeds better. As the resident poultry man in the family, you would be suprised how often I get asked some weird and wonderful questions about poultry.
