I cant seem to buy the poultry standard so I want to ask if all the waterfowls are all judged to the same standard or are they all different?

The standard is definitely difficult to get hold of and in some cases very expensive as well. You can keep an eye on ebay as they often pop up there. The current version is still waiting to be released (I think).

There is definitely a different standard for each breed of fowl. Some standards may be similar but each will have certain details required which sets that breed apart.

Sometimes the difficulty is how each individual interprets parts of the standard too, you may think you have a 'perfect' bird but a judge may think differently.

Is there a breed in particular you're interested in the standard for?

I don't have a copy myself and there are certain legalities involved in copying parts of books to give to other people, but you never know, you might get a pm from someone who has some info they could fax or email you ;)

Rumour has it that the second edition of the australian poultry standards will be available in the second half of 2011. I have heard from several ppl who i could rely on being correct that it could be as early as june/july

Where is the best place to order the standard book from? I have found BellSouth but they say it’s out of print.

Thanks for all the help so far I have a lot more questions like what’s best to clean both duck and chicken legs before a big show?

The current APS has been out of print for some time now. When the new edition becomes available they will advertise it with a way of purchasing it.

hi there , try this link, it is for a book by a guy called nyiri murtagh, it has the standard for all the breeds,
see if your local libary has it, then you could photo copy what standards you want , or you could buy it, it is a great book on ducks , well worth the money,
