Hi I am going to join a poultry club so I can show some of my silkies but there are 2 clubs about the same distance from where I live so how do you choose which one to join? What should I look for before I join?

Bongo,
All poultry clubs regular meeting, generally monthly, this is legislative requirement of being incorporated (Inc) Club. Contact the club and find out when the next meeting is.
At the meeting you will get a feel for the club and its members.
Do you have a council requirement to be a local club member? Some councils allow registered poultry club members to have males (roosters) regardless of yard size, where the "backyarder" is not. The club monitiors the members to ensure they are maintaining their housing is up to standard and deals direct if there are any complaints on a member. So if you do it may be best to check with the local council on that one.

Generally membership on around $10/$15 per year, not a really big investment these days.
You can be a member of both.
You don't have to be a member to show, generally you pay a little extra entry fees.
You could try going to both shows this year and as per the meeting, this may allow you to meet the various members.

Clubs generally welcome new members.
Hope this helps.

Why not join both clubs. All clubs need more members.

I appreciate the information Rhode Red and you make very good sense I was thinking of just joining the one club but I will visit both and see if I like the both first

When im looking at joining a poultry club i will attend a couple of meetings and their show. If they are there to promote poultry i will join, if they are there for self promotion i will not join or show there while the current committee are involved.

You get that in any hobby but if you don't play the game the trouble makers usually go away. I am in 3 clubs and all have a few people with big egos
