As a beginner with no clue at all as to breeding a decent chook would I be best to buy the NZ standard to read?

If your breeding wyandottes or similar then yes go with the NZ as its much more detailed, also hang around the forum to ask questions and get advice its the only place in australia you can get online help and advice that's real and first hand

I love the british standards but second would be the NZ then Italy in 3rd
