wet wet wet, well dring out now, we had about 300mm in two days but the wind just blow the rain into place never been before. the chook pens that would normaly stay dry the wind swirled the rain and it went through every where. all cleaned out and no mud as i use a sand crusher dust that the garden supplier recommended, ( 20 cm deep and water drains away fast and leaves no mud and chooks can still dig in it.
but we didn't receive as bad as some people

I think its sand stone as it is a light orange colour, the garden supplier surgested it, it will set but just dig or scrap the top and chooks can dig.

The rain was great, when you thought it was over, it just came again. As mentioned the wind was the killer, we lost a couple of palms and a few banana plants, the neighbours tree lost plenty of limbs.

I have tried a number of bases in the chook pen, including normal soil, with plenty of pine shavings, sand, deco granite and crusher dust. The best is a base of deco granite with crusher dust over the top. After the rain 250mm plus, the outside was all clean and dry in a day. The birds still scratch init and get to the deco.

My thoughts to those who got far more rain and bad weather than us like including Bundaberg and Grafton areas, also those down south who had to battle the fires. What a few weeks we have had.
