What zoo ? No females ? I emailed the AQIS to see what species are allowed & from what countrys.

And prices quoted are for a full shipment.
Even if you were allowed to import Victoria Crowned, Pheasant pigeons etc you would need to source guaranteed captive bred birds from selected countries only. They would need to undergo extensive testing whilst in quarantine overseas. You would not be able to house as many individuals in the Australian quarantine facility; therefore the cost per bird would be a lot greater.
Sorry, but the reality is it won't happen any time soon.

If the parrot and finch blokes have been banging their heads against a brick wall for the last 15 years, then exotic pigeon species have little chance as they are much lower down in the order of priority.

The last 2 Victoria-crowned Pigeons in Australia are at Taronga Zoo aged 32 and 21 and both are males. There was 4, but the other 2 have since died...it will be sad when they go :(
