Wood shavings are a very common option for quails hut.
But some people swear by sand and its benefits.
Let me know your thoughts?
What do you line your hut with? happy_duck

I use both actually.

In the shelter area I use super fine pine shavings
In the run I use beach sand as its high in minerals

Do not use course wood shavings

Thanks for sharing!

How often do you change your pine shavings?
Can you put them in the compost bin?

I do mine 4 times a year at the start of each season
No they do not break down well best in the bin or as mulch in the garden

I don't think worms grow in wood shavings but they do in sand so keep that in mind
