I agree that Royal Palms are balck on white, but painted is a different pattern to RP. Go to

http://www.deutschersturkeyfarm.com/pho ... CF5276.JPG

to see what I mean. Looks someone threw a can of black paint at a white turkey [smilie=a_chuckle.gif]

Has anyone got nice dark red bourbon pictures from Australia they can share? Of late all I see are washed out light buff reds and thats alarming

I agree that I have only seen Bourbon Reds that lacked depth of colour. A breeder of some experience told me "there are no good Bourbon Reds in Australia". I would love to hear and see other wise.

Cross Bourbon Red gobbler over a well marked Bronze hen, That will give you red bronzes, From there you have two ways of going, breed red bronze hens back to Bourbon Red Gobbler or do a brother/sister mating and pick the best from that.
It will take two years to get that far and just keep the darkest and well marked one and keep breeding that way

So are the bronze and the bourbon the same species?

Thanks Grumpy Gobbler, I have a Bronze tom with the vague idea of doing something like you said, but I am pleased for the more specific advice.

Maybe time I tried that and see if I can improve the colour as every year I feel they get lighter and lighter
