I find the japs very hard to sex but have not tried the vent test so when I get back my japs I will try it and see. I have bob whites and californians and they are easy to sex

I only vent sex all my quails I never go on colour or patterns on the feather its not accurate. Wait until they are over 6 weeks then vent sex and ring them at the same time I use blue and pink so easy to tell from out side the cages

what do you use for the rings (are they budgie legs rings?) and where did you get them?

I use these ones http://www.brookfieldpoultryequipment.c ... =260&r=137 but I use the same colour I just put the ring on the right leg for males and left leg for females

Have used zippy ties on my hens (light sussex) thought they would be to big for the quails???

both are def. males,
will they be ok in the same enclosure now they are mature? Hatched from the same batch and have grown up together.
