I tried that with quails from the incubator I also hatched 2 bantams and had them all together in the brooder and that was the only batch that I did not loose and quail chicks so it a good idea for any type of bird I think.

Turkey hens vary in their mothering practices. If you want the poults to survive with their mother, try to make sure they are safe from predators in the air as well as on the ground. Or if you want another clutch sooner rather than later, take them away. The trick is to remove them as far away as possible - so that the hen can't hear them, and they can't hear their mother.

I ended up leaving the poult with its mother, two times I tried to take it away and she cried at the bottom of the steps and it peeped from the brooder non stop until I gave up! She's doing a good job with it and the tom is even visiting it with no issues. I think next time I will take them away as they hatch before she has time to bond with them.

I let my poults raise all their own chicks as I am a bit of the 'nature knows best' person but I keep mum and the chicks caged up until the chicks are 10 weeks before they get to free range and I find I have minimum losses that way
