Can anyone tell me if quails breed during the winter months? They are laying plenty of eggs still but none of the hens want to sit on them is that normal for this time of year?

No they are resting now as its called the off season so you will have to wait until spring

What breed of quail do you have ??
I would expect most breeds as suggested to be resting now and not wanting to set.
If they are still laying well is it that you have Jap quail ??
If so I have never known one to set, developed to such a high degree of laying capacity they have lost the inclination to set/brood.
If this is the case you willl need to artificially incubate them.
Mine are still laying madly and we have just had a week of ice cold winds that has not put them off in the slightest.
I was concerned earlier in the year about them copeing with the extreme cold here at higher altitude , didn't expect that even the cold frost and sleet would not concern them at all.

I had my incubator set with 2 dozen Coturnix eggs and just throw them out on Monday as not 1 was fertile so I would say don't waste the power at this time I won't set any more until September now we all live and learn don't we

its normal for them to lay eggs now but they won't be fertile because the males are not mating this time of year but will in august onwards
