I am looking for a friend of mine who is after some royal palm turkeys.

Age is not a factor.

I have some with Royal Palm markings but they exceed the weight required in the standard.

Well Royal Palms are supposed to be a lighter framed Turkey. I think there is a standard written by Soozorps published on here somewhere.

Light framed birds don't really do it for me as I expect to be able to eat a Turkey as well as look at it. So therefore I've concentrated on a broad-breasted (ie meatier) strain. All this is academic as far as you are concerned as my birds have stopped laying for the summer and I have a waiting list for eggs when they do start up again.

I'll have to have a discussion with Soozorps sometime as I'm developing a Lavender with Palm markings in a broad breasted type. Since it will be a new breed we can effectively write our own standard to suit.

if they are obviously overweight = they cannot be shown as a judge has the right to have any bird he thinks is oversize weighed = have seen it happen = that bloke was miffed when told his bird was disqualifed - you dont use any with the meat strain in them when it comes to RPs as they are one of the smallest of the turkeys [and prettiest so far as I am concerned] hence I have a strain of meat bird that looks RP as well :-D
