Hi Everyone.
Craig & I have just come back from a visit to Daryl Deutscher's turkey farm for a whole weekend of nothing but turkeys, turkeys, & more turkeys. It was a fabulous experience and he's got some amazing birds there. During one of our discussions, Daryl asked me to help him put together a website (long awaited for all of us turkey lovers). This is definately a work in progress and there is still heaps more information to go onto it yet, but please take a look and tell us what you think so far. If there is anything else you think we should be adding, please let us know about that too.
Cheers,
Jo

I think it looks great and I think its excellent to have a new ozzy site on turkeys, the only 2 recommendations I would suggest is

1) Photos of the Turkey varieties
2) Information on caring and breeding them

I know it’s a work in progress so you are probably already working on the photos and info just thought I would mention it.

Good work so far, well done

Thanks so much for your comments.
There are quite a few photos there at the moment in the photo gallery. Maybe I should rearrange things a little so they are easier to find. The breeding and husbandry info is still coming. It's an awfully big task, especially when you're doing it for someone else, so I think I'm going to have to spend more time on the phone with Daryl to get it just right.
Again, thanks for your feedback. Will go and work on those photos now. :-D
Jo

Sorry I didn't see the gallery. It’s very good of you to put the site together for someone else and I think it will be popular once it’s all finished.

All the content on the site will be passed by Daryl first, so it's pretty much his stuff going on there. I'm just the one with the computer. ;)

Thanks for that. This guy is sitting on a goldmine of genetics for turkeys...I'm hoping that it'll get more people interested in having turkeys, and so is he for that matter. We thought this would be the best way to promote them.

wonderful website. I love it already.

Can I suggest that you put in some information about the sizes of various turkey varieties? I find a lot of people are put off buying turkeys as they think they will grow into 30kg monsters.

I'm also interested in differences in temperament and handlability (if this is a word) of different varieties. I am told Bourbon reds are a bit aggressive though I am not sure if it is true. I tend to find the lighter colours are more placid.

Have to say as some one who has purchased turkeys from Daryl, he is extremely helpful and knowledgable and I would happily recommend anyone looking to buy good birds to contact Daryl.
