alright, so i finally found a guinea fowl. he is 9 weeks old and currently living with a pair of quail, which i got to keep him company.

He ADORES the male quail, constantly following him, and they both enjoy the company. the female, is peskering him, and snapping at his face chasing him back into the hutch.

the guinea is a total sook, push over. ha! he sulks away and tries to sneak back out to play with his friend and eat/drink. she isnt as agressive. but what should i do?

cheers.

Hi Kirby, I'm not sure of quail but maybe your little Guinea would benefit from some more of his own kind. Maybe several more GFs might get his mind off the quail and that would make Mrs Quail a happier soul perhaps. ;) Good luck whatever you decide! :) Would be good to hear what happens.

traded the female in for another, and they are all now much happier.

he loves the company... i wonder how he will go when he out grows them...

I would separate the guinea as soon as you can not a good idea living with a quail. The longer you leave it the more it will be attached and more of a problem separating them. Just an opinion

because a quail & a guinea fowl talk about the odd couple. I think Guineas Galore is refering to the size diff when they are older :-D you may end up the a flat quail ;)

My pigeons squash my baby quails so I had to take the pigeons out when the quail sits on eggs. I think they are right the guinea fowls would be better off on their own with their own kind. I put some quail eggs in a pigeon nest to see if they would hatch them, they did but I had to take the babies away because the pigeon tried to feed them and quails eat seed as soon as they are born
