Thanks for the info I was told not to get them because they would attack the kids, can they be trained not to attack?

Hi Booby K,
you don't train gamefowl not to attack.
you train yourself and your family not to provoke them.
you use sensible systems and actions to prevent any chance of provocation that may result in an injury to you, your family and especially to the chickens.
have the kids go with you when you feed them.
don't go near hens with babies while a rooster is in the same coop.
pick up and pat your chickens so they familiarize themselves that you are not a threat.
have your kids pat the chickens.
don't let your kids show fear of the chickens.
all animals smell and feel fear, they don't know what you are scared of, so they think there is a dangerous threat nearby and prepare to defend their family.
I breed malay game fowl, one of the largest breeds of chickens. the only time I have been scratched is when I have to pick the 5.7kg rooster of the highest perch in the coop and put him in his night box.
otherwise they are just like any other breed of chicken, interesting and a joy to have.
