Hi folks, I am quite new to the world of turkeys (more of a duck person haha) and I was wondering if some of you more experienced turkey people could help me as I'm not sure whether this turkey is a hen or tom. It's still quite young - approx 4-5 months old. Temperament is very docile. Colouring around its face is quite dull. I'm thinking a girl but I'd love to hear your take on it. At what age can you be sure of a turkey's gender? Also just a side note, what is it's colouring? I've been told it's a lavender but there are a few different grey-ish colours! Thanks

Young lavender hen to my bleary eyes, Aurora. I'm a shocker with Turkeys though, i can't tell the sex til they get bigger - or lay eggs. I can't keep them here, too many ducks and geese means a bigger risk of Blackhead. Cheers, Andrew |

Thanks KLW and Andrew! Was hoping it was a male when I got it but I guess the gamble didn't pay off haha |
