Post subject: | hope this helps.. |
hey Leeann, i have some pigeons, i don't know if this helps but here goes, i have been reading books about handling them etc...anyways, change their water daily( Ive been told by members before), make sure your aviary is about a meter square or bigger , place their food away from the nest site so the birds don't get used to being feed in the nest, this will prevent droppings on the egg, give them small twigs etc so they can continually rebuild their nest so they don't lay on the dirty nest from the previous litter, have a lunch box in there where they can bath but make sure it is FAR FAR FAR FAR away from the nest site so the eggs and the nest site doesn't get damaged, make sure you place the food in a dry area and not on muddy surfaces as this will prevent worms etc from the birds, and lastly if you want your birds to fly and come back, keep them locked up in you aviary for about two months before you open the aviary for them to fly in, and when the day yo release them, release them before you feed them, after you release them place the food in the aviary so they learn to come back... and one last thing,,,,,,, give them PRIVACY... sorry bout the bombarding but hope that helps |
