I dont think the comb is developed enough at that age to be a cockerel

Yep at 10+ weeks it should be twice that size if it was a cockerel

Thanks everyone they all turned out to be beautiful young ladies.

I have another one for you. We got 3 more chickies 6 weeks later and am sure that two are girls but the littlest one Bella (the brown one in the pic) was the tiniest of them all then all of a sudden she grew and grew and now we are wondering if she might be a rooster. She is approx 19 weeks now. Fingers crossed she is just a big girl. The little white girl in the pic we got at the same time and is the same age?

File comment: is the brown girl Bella a boy or girl. She is 19 weeks in this photo - the white girl is the same age

That is a cockerel (a juvenile rooster – they are not roosters until after they have gone thru their first moult < just for future reference)

I would be calling this one Bob not Bella

Can I ask the breed (or breeds) of this one? It is an attractive bird [smilie=a_chuckle.gif]

Well they are all pretty nice birds :-D regardless of one being a Bob :(

And yes mixed breeds going on the various colours/patterns = at least this way you can tell them apart easily :-D
