So I turned the big 5oh! over Easter and the kids asked me what I'd like as a gift....

My reply ( I even wrote it down) was not so hard to fathom,....I thought. A breeding pair of Saxony or Aylesbury Ducks. What I GOT was another pair of MUSCOVY ducks conf665 ...black and white no less. The last pair I got some years ago were given to me and if they weren't good layers and good broodies we would've eaten them years ago.

At least my wife was on the ball....she got me a trio of Buff Orpingtons.

So now there's more birds in the quarantine pens.....meaning none of them can come out for a month...again. How hard is it to work out that they should be seperated? [smilie=a_doh.gif] Birds i bought/swapped weeks ago were due to be brought out and put in their own pens this week.

So now my search for Saxony's etc is delayed for a bit longer....'anyone in the Northern Rivers or SE Qld have some quality birds they like to breed?

Wow...you guys aren't much help. I have eight ( yes, 8) children of my own and sometimes other kids in foster. so there's no escaping them.
On a lighter note, I have since sourced a trio of Saxonys from a breeder near byron', and may have a lead for good show quality Aylesburies through the Boonah poultry club. A fellow from there sold me some beaut RIR's recently and he says he wants to downsize his flock/s. If they are anything like his Reds, I'll be a happy man.

thanks,
Andrew
